Day 1/2: One long travel day....

We woke up at shortly after 3am in Toronto, and arrived in Vancouver at noon EST. We had ~5hrs between our flights and decided to take advantage of the newly built skytrain from the airport to visit downtown Vancouver and see Steve's friend Rob Ng. Rob lives right near the water in English Bay and had the great idea to rent bikes and bike around the perimeter of Stanley Park (~10km). We saw the huge redwoods, mountains in the background, beaches, and ocean, ocean, and more ocean - it was beautiful. We were very happy that we made such good use of our lay-over and got a chance to catch up with Rob!

We visited the unbelievably colourful, lit up, and busy neighbourhood of Shinjinku. Steve tried on a few shirts and realized that a Japanese "Large" isn't the same as a Canadian "Large" as he looked like an adult wearing kids clothing. We had our first japanese meal (bibs included) and we enjoyed it very much.

Its now 6:15am JST but we're definitely still running on EST so we're up early and ready to get a start on the day. We took our hotel recommendation from TripAdvisor and we aren't dissapointed. Its VERY modern and clean. The location is great so we're very pleased! We're excited about Tokyo as we got a glimpse of the city during our train ride last night and we don't have an overly hectic schedule while here so we're hoping to get our bodies adjusted and enjoy having a few days off work!
We'll post all about our adventures today, tomorrow.

Steve & Jess
